Ashe sponsors MK Student of the Year
Jake Dunne has been announced as the winner of this year’s Construction Student of the Year in the MK Student of the Year Awards which Ashe has sponsored for the third time.
College staff and students selected winners from each area of the College who demonstrated that they made a real difference to their own lives, or to the lives of others, as a result of their commitment and dedication to study.
Jake completed an Apprenticeship in Engineering at the College and is currently enrolled on an Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations to enable his family’s business to diversify. According to the college he has been an outstanding student gaining a Distinction in Core Knowledge and passing the Construction Skills Certification Scheme Health & Safety test first time.
Each student nominated for an award received a cheque for £200 at a ceremony held on 10th June.
Business development director Andy Morris said: “We have a long standing relationship with the college having built their University Centre under a £2.1m refurbishment contract in 2008 and we are pleased to support local learning in this way. Jake has shown he is a worthy winner demonstrating maturity and understanding during the planning and execution of a number of medium-to-large installations, often surpassing the quality of work of his experienced colleagues and we wish him well for the future.”
Ashe is about to start work on another major refurbishment project for the college later in the year.
